Sandbag training has been becoming more popular in recent times because people have been finding how really useful they are to get a good workout. Training with sandbags is nothing new, they were used during World War 2 to train the troops because with the lack of weight lifting equipment, they were able to do an effective workout. Everyone from the average people trying to get in shape to athletes of all kinds are able to take advantage of using sandbags.

You can make your own sandbag out of a canvas duffle bag or some similar type bag. It does not have to be filled with sand, you could use stone chips or gravel that you can find at home improvement stores. The advantage of stone is it would be less of a mess than sand if you sprung a leak. Sand can also be bought at home improvement stores in the form of play sand. If you put the sand into individual zip lock bags and tape them up, you will be able to add or take out what you want to adjust the weight.

If you like to workout at home and do not have any steel weights to use the sandbag would be perfect. You can get a great whole body workout with one when you mix in some pushups and pull ups. You can target your legs, shoulders, back, chest and arms, there is no way you can not get in shape using the sandbag to workout with.
